Can You Hear That?

As today unfolded, I looked to nature for signs. Signs for confirmations or just to remind me, that it will all be ok.
While I was gardening all I could hear was the word cricket in my head. A message was trying to come through. As soon as I was done with having my hands in the dirt, I turned to my books. What is the cricket spirit trying to tell me?

Keynotes: uncanny and leaps forward
In some societies the grasshopper or cricket held a position of honor and respect. In China crickets were symbols of good cheer, good luck, abundance, and virtue. Even to the ancient Greeks the grasshopper was a symbol of nobility.
As the name implies, the grasshopper moves by leaping and hopping. This is how it escapes. They have a tremendous jumping ability. For those with this totem, it is important to get off the haunches and move. To take a chance, take that leap forward!
Crickets & grasshoppers have an instinct for finding the sunny sides of mounds and other places so they can be exposed to the sun. they have a knack for being in the warmth and light, knowing when to make their leaps. Important to remember here, that in my message earlier, not only was I talking about spreading light and love, I myself was soaking in the sun debating on whether or not sharing my feelings. I took that leap and shared with you all how I felt and wanted to reassure you I am going to continue to do what I do, in the way that I do things. Cricket spirit medicine tells me to trust my own instincts and rhythms. My book specifically stated this, “What works for others will not necessarily work for you. Also remember that what works for you probably will not work for anyone else.” Which is ok for me. I understand and accept that.
Listening to my own inner voice to know when to make my moves in my life is important to me. People with cricket animal totems have an uncanny ability to leap into successful ventures. This becomes even more true when they learn to listen to that inner voice and follow their own instincts.
Sometimes grasshoppers can show up if we are not listening or if we are afraid to make the leap off our mounds. Many times, such fears have to do with the fact that “no one else has done it this way.” Cricket people must learn to make new leaps. I was battling with myself yesterday (mind you I was with family all day for a picnic trying my best to just enjoy my family on a Sunday) on to whether I speak up or not. Most of my life I have let people say and do as they wish, not much bothers me, I keep my views to myself or husband and most of the time I let everything roll off my back because I refuse to let that darkness in or dim my light. I knew by doing something that others do not, is a risk by itself. So, I knew that I would have bumps along my path. I took a huge leap in doing what I’m doing. I must stay focused on what I came here to do, what I enjoy doing…teaching the children about herbalism and allowing them to use their imaginations and creativity while doing so! Putting all else aside.
Which brings me to my next important message. During my recording from this morning, I realized a little baby honey bee landed on my hand to say hello and bless me with her medicine. (I believe I actually mentioned it in my video!)

Keynotes: fertility and the honey of life
Bees have been mythical symbols throughout the world. In Hinduism, depending upon how depicted, the bee could relate to Vishnu, Krishna, or even Kama, the God of love. In Egypt it denoted royalty. In Greece, it was used in the symbology of the Eleusinian Mysteries, and the Celts associated it with hidden wisdom. All very fun things to know and learn about!
Bees are long time symbols for accomplishing the impossible. For many years scientist were unable to determine how bees were able to fly. Still, it remains to many as a symbol of accomplishing quests that appear to be impossible. At many times I can relate to this.
My research says, that if a bee shows up in your life, to examine your own productivity. Are you doing all you can to make your life more fertile? Are you busy enough? Are you taking time to savor the honey of you endeavors or are you being a workaholic? Are you attempting to do to much? Are you keeping your desires in check so they can be more productive? These are all great questions to reflect on. The most important question, am I taking time to enjoy the labors and activities I involve myself in? The bee helps remind me that activities are more productive and sweeter if I take the time to enjoy them. To stay focused on the goal. Again, putting all else aside.
The geometric shape of the honeycomb has had long mystical significances associated with it. It is a symbol of the heart and the sweetness of life found within our own hearts. It is a symbol of the sun and all the energies associated with it. This makes me think of spreading more love and kindness, putting all else aside. Bringing ourselves back to being a child, having the capability to love all with no judgement.
“The bee is a reminder to extract the honey of life and to make our lives fertile while the sun shines. That no matter how great the dream, there is the promise to fulfillment if we pursue it. The elixir of life is as sweet as honey, and the bee is a symbol that promises us that the opportunity to drink of it is ours if we but pursue our dreams.”
Thank you for reading.
