As I walked through the deep forest with my bare feet, I heard leaves rustling behind me. I turned to see a grey wolf slowly moving towards a red wolf. The grey was male, and red was a female. I was witnessing a dance of respect and trust. This part of my dream grabbed my attention enough for it to settle into my conscious mind and wake me up. This happens when animal spirit is communicating with me.

The Wolves
The wolf represents guardianship, ritual, loyalty, and spirit. From my research and to my understanding, wolf medicine is the epitome of wild spirit. They are very ritualistic—in as many ways as humans. They live by carefully defined rules that enable them to live in such a wild and free environment. Wolves have specific territories that are sacred, and their social behavior is based upon a hierarchical structure. What I love most about wolves is that they do not fight unnecessarily. In fact, they will often go out of their way to avoid it. They are extremely strong and powerful but rarely end up in serious fights. Often just a glance, a posture or a growl is all that is necessary to determine dominance. They don’t have to demonstrate it, but they are capable of it comes down to it. The wolf teaches us to know who you are and to develop strength, confidence, and surety in that so that you do not have to demonstrate and prove yourself to all. Personally, this is what my number one goal has been this year, so I find it interesting that the wolf is coming to me now. I feel myself finally stepping into my role as a healer, teacher, and friend who prioritizes loyalty and trust. I say all the time I am building a community or tribe; however, I want a pack. I want me and the people I surround myself with to be as strong as a pack of wolves.
Wolves are associated with ravens for hunting skills, have great communication skills, the male and female will mate for life, prey off the sick the young, and the old. Amongst a lot more interesting facts, I found that the wolf teaches us to learn to trust our own insights and to secure our attachments accordingly. It will guard you as it teaches you—sometimes strongly, sometimes gently. But always with love.
“Wolf medicine will show when there are great responsibilities to leadership and great challenges as well, but if you have a unique and worthy vision to bring to the world, he will help you walk ahead of the rest and lead others to a higher path. Wolf medicine also has great medicine power as a guide or teacher, especially in areas that are new, vanguard or on the cutting edge.”
With these two wolves showing up in my dreams, it is time I created a path that reflects the wolf. I am the governor of my life, and I will direct it. Doing this with harmony and discipline, I will then know the true spirit of freedom. I will stay loyal and true to myself, and hope that I will find my pack along the way.
